A structured way to make better marketing decisions.

We define the question, analyse the evidence and turn what we find into clear priorities and practical recommendations — with the reasoning behind them.

How it works

From question to recommendation in four steps.

Close enough to understand the business. Independent enough to challenge the assumptions.

  1. 01 — Qualify

A free 30-minute conversation before you commit.

We discuss the decision you’re facing, what’s at stake and whether our analysis is the right fit. Where there’s a case for working together, we put forward a proposal. No paid work begins until you’ve approved it.

  2. 02 — Define

Together, we define the question that needs answering.

In a 90–120-minute working session, we use your knowledge of the business to explore your objectives, what has changed and the assumptions behind the decision. Within the agreed scope, we identify what the analysis needs to focus on and which evidence will be most useful.

  3. 03 — Analyse

We find what is influencing performance, and what isn’t.

We examine the relevant customer, market and marketing evidence alongside your commercial objectives and offer, rather than judging channels in isolation.

We test assumptions, identify patterns and distinguish supported findings from questions the evidence cannot resolve. Where your knowledge is needed to interpret a finding, we check in as the work progresses.

  4. 04 — Recommend

    Always based on the evidence.

We set out what deserves priority, what can wait and why — including the trade-offs, dependencies and uncertainties that could affect the decision.

In a 60-minute presentation, we work through the recommendations with you, discuss their implications and answer your questions.

Your strategy report

What you leave with

A written strategy report and implementation brief to help you decide what to prioritise and guide whoever delivers the agreed work.

  • The question: the decision, objectives and assumptions that shaped the analysis.
  • The findings: what we examined, what the evidence showed and where information was limited.
  • The recommendations: prioritised actions, with the reasoning behind them.
  • The implementation brief: what needs doing, why it matters, what the agreed work should achieve and the proposed order of delivery.

Working together

What we need from you

We agree the information and access required for the analysis. Depending on the scope, this may include existing plans, sales and customer information, performance reports or access to marketing analytics.

Alongside the working session and presentation, your involvement centres on providing that information and answering focused questions as findings emerge.

You don’t need to arrive with every answer. Identifying what still needs answering is part of the work.

Before you commit

Timing and investment

Engagements start from £1,250.

Your proposal confirms the scope, fee and delivery timetable before you commit. The timetable reflects the depth of analysis and the availability of the information we need, rather than a fixed turnaround applied to every business.

The implementation brief is included in the strategy fee. The engagement stands on its own: direct delivery, supplier-selection support and any coordination or oversight are optional and scoped and quoted separately.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What does a marketing strategy consultant actually do?

A marketing strategy consultant helps a business make better choices about who it is trying to reach, what it offers, how it reaches them and where it spends its marketing resources. Our work starts with a defined commercial question. We examine the available evidence and turn it into priorities and practical recommendations, rather than prescribing a channel before understanding the decision.

Is this the same as a marketing audit?

It includes reviewing existing marketing where that is relevant, but its scope begins with the decision you need to make. A channel audit might focus on how a website, campaign or account is performing. We also consider the direction of the business, its offer, customers and market, because those factors can change which marketing investment makes sense. The exact investigation is set out in the proposal.

What will you examine?

We define the scope around the question, then look across the business direction, offer, market, customers and current marketing. That may include your positioning, customer journey, competitors, website, channels, performance data, budgets and existing plans. We examine the signals together so a recommendation about one activity is not made in isolation from the rest of the business.

How do you research our customers and competitors?

We start with the customer evidence and market knowledge you already have, then use relevant external sources to test the picture. The research depends on the question and the agreed scope; direct interviews or new surveys are not assumed to be included in every engagement. In the report, we distinguish evidence from interpretation and make the basis for customer claims clear.

How do you decide what to recommend?

We look for the explanation that best fits the evidence across the business, offer, market, customers and marketing performance. The report shows why a priority has been chosen, which assumptions matter and where information is incomplete. Recommendations can be to invest, improve, test, pause or stop; they are not a preselected list of services.

What if our reporting or analytics cannot show a clear return?

We work with the evidence that exists and are explicit about what it can and cannot prove. That may mean comparing marketing signals with sales outcomes, finding gaps in measurement or recommending what needs to be tracked before a larger commitment. We will not present uncertain attribution as a precise return figure.

What if the analysis uncovers a larger issue than the original brief?

Following the evidence may change the emphasis within the agreed question. If a substantial new issue would require work beyond the scope, we will explain it and discuss a revised brief before undertaking additional work. You will know what is covered by the original proposal and what would be a separate decision.

Can you guarantee a return on the recommended investment?

No one can know the outcome of a future marketing decision with certainty. Our job is to make the decision more informed: set out the evidence, the reasoning, the main uncertainties and the practical next steps. Where performance can be measured, we explain what to monitor so the business can learn and adjust after implementation.
